We Are Rich Through Him

A reminder of Christ’s ultimate sacrifice

I read a Bible verse every night before bed. Now, I’ll be honest. With a busy schedule, every night often turns into every other night, and sometimes even gets dropped down to once a week. But one night I thankfully got around to it and discovered a beautiful, beautiful verse.

This verse hit me like a ton of bricks, to say the least. This verse got me thinking whether or not I would become poor in order for someone to become rich, or if my past actions were Christlike at all.

I recognize that, as humans, we can never be on par with Christ, and that our actions, as courageous and meaningful as they can be, will never be anywhere near the same level as Christ’s ultimate sacrifice on the cross, but I also recognize that we can strive to be the best we can be as we model ourselves after Christ.

Christ died a gruesome death on the cross so that sinners could be forgiven after committing gruesome acts, and yet I struggle to showcase even one Christlike virtue in my daily life.

Yet I’m rich, and you’re rich as well.

We are rich because of Christ’s ultimate sacrifice. Let’s learn from it, and try our best to make the poor rich just as Christ did Himself.
