Both Sides Now

During my business trip, I lived in an Airbnb flat with a bookshelf. So, I came across a book, or rather an album by Chinese artist Peng Wei “Letters From a Distance”. She made Chinese ink paintings to famous people letters, e.g., Napoleon and Josephine, Pasternak, Cvetaeva and Rilke.

After reading these letters I had a strong urge to write a letter to a friend, a real one, on a paper. And all my friends live so far away! Oh well… A difference between a real letter and an email or a chat message deserves a separate post.

Also, in the book there was a beautiful poem, which I want to share:

Turned out, it’s a song by a famous Canadian singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell, so maybe you know it? I’ve listened to dozens of the song performers, and as soon as the original by Joni Mitchell is no doubt good (I have it on my iTunes), I also liked this one by Mary Fahl, a beautiful woman with mesmerizing voice:
