The Very Best Activity Books

Hello Again! These are some great activity books for kids with ages in the ballpark of 5 to 10 years old.

Hello Nature by Nina Chakrabarti

This is an activity book with activities based on nature. I fell in love with this book the first time I laid eyes on it because it is has more unique activities than other activity books. What I mean by that (because you’re probably sitting there with a puzzled look on your face) is the activities aren’t asking you to draw a cat or think of your favorite food and draw it like I have noticed in most activity books. It instead shows you well-drawn pictures of things and then asks you to draw another version of that well-drawn picture.

But let me calm down, that was a lot.

Another example of one of the things it does is it shows you well-drawn pictures of, lets say, patterns on frogs, flowers, stones, anything you can imagine, then asks you to draw similar patterns you’ve seen in nature. I love this and highly recommend this book of nature magic for ages 7 and up. (Of course depending on the kid, you might be the perfect match if your over or under 7 years old.) Also, younger kids may need help reading the instructions of the fun-filled pages.

The Girls’ Doodle Book by Andrew Pinder

The cover of The Girls Doodle Book

This is what it sounds like… a doodle book for girls! This book of doodles has activities like, “Decorate her hands with Henna” or “OH NO!!! What has Granny knitted now?” Which asks you to draw a terrible piece of clothing Gran has knitted.

Of course I recommend this for girls, but boys could have LOTS of fun doing this book too. This book is filled with tons of activities for girls AND boys. (Nothing in this activity book is really “FOR GIRLS”.) I recommend this book for ages 6 and up, keeping in mind that younger kids may need help reading directions.

Doodlepedia by *multiple authors*

This is, yes, another activity book that includes facts on every page and contains an unusual amount of fun throughout the book. I got this book when I was young and had some trouble reading the big words in the facts, so keep that in mind if you decide to buy Doodlepedia. I recommend this book for avid doodlers ages 6 and up, including kids who might need help reading it. This book is AMAZING and maybe my favorite out of all these doodle wonderlands.

My Crazy Inventions Sketchbook by Andrew Rae & Lisa Regan

The cover of My Crazy Inventions Sketchbook

This may not be a doodle book, but it certainly is fun!!!!!!!!!!!! This might be my favorite book in this article (it’s so hard to choose!!!!!!). This book gives you fun challenges like, “Here Are Some Legendary, And World-Changing Candies. Design Your Own Candy!”

This book is so fun and awesome because you really get to express your “inner child.” I’m getting poetic now so let me change the subject. This also lets you design things you never think can really be made, like a coffee machine that can also play movies that can also give you a foot massage that can also give unlimited candy and the greasiest french fries you could ever imagine.

I recommend this invention adventure (try saying that 10 times fast!!!) for ages 6 and up including reading help.

I find doodle books great for kids because they get to express creativity that you can’t express anywhere else. I hope this article about my favorite doodle books was useful to all the supportive people reading this. Stay tuned for more helpful articles!
