This brief tutorial describes how to install Opigno LMS 3.x on Ubuntu 20.04 with Apache2, MariaDB and PHP 7.4.
Run the commands below to install Apache2 server :

open your browser and visit “http://localhost” you should see the page bellow

Next, run the command below to complete the installation of MariaDB

Connect to MariaDB using the command below and use the root password :
Create Opigno’s database
Create opigno’s user and set its password
Then grant the user full access to the database, save the changes and exit MariaDB
Note that for this tutorial I had to install PHP7 instead of PHP8 because some Opigno3.x dependencies are not compatible with PHP8 yet. So for now, to avoid dependencies mismatch I had to install PHP 7.4 instead, which is still maintained and secure.
Then open PHP’s configuration file for apache2 using :
edit the lines below to adapt apache2 to host opigno
restart apache2 server to make the changes effective
You should know that it is suggested to use composer to install opigno 3.x for the time being.
To install Composer, run the commands below :
Then, download the latest opigno release using composer
set the correct permissions and ownership for Opigno’s root directory
create a new configuration file called opigno.conf
then paste the lines below and edit the ServerAdmin, ServerName and ServerAlias then save
Enable the virtual host and restart apache2 server
Open your browser and visit your server’s domain name
Follow the instruction on the installation page and set up your database connection as you previously created. Opigno should start installing its modules.
Next, insert your site information and create an admin account. then, press Save an Continue.
You should end up on the home page or the login page
Congrats ! you’ve successfully installed Opigno 3.x on your ubuntu server.
