Did Red Bull really do that?

If you read my last post, by no means is this a beginnings of a copywriting theme. This is merely by sheer coincidence also a copy related post.

Have you ever read the back of a can of Red Bull? If you haven’t then this is what it says in bold, red type at the top of every can:

“….appreciated world-wide by top athletes, students, and in highly demanding professions as well as during long drives.”

Wow.

Ever since, I’ve been trying to work out firstly what this means and secondly how this was the best that they could do. My best guess is that the sentence illustrates the incremental evolution of the brands targeting and it was decided that rather than to re-write and craft these additions into a nice, snappy line, why not just bolt each new audience/ use onto the end. Lazy and lucklustre I say.
